3 Hearts(At this particular point in time Sassy was using a rating system that was equated to the menstrual cycle. 3 hearts means-well it's only five days a month)
I was into the first Smashing Pumpkins record Gish the minute I heard it. This one leaves me a little perplexed. At first I thought this is such a second album (as in name a second album that is not a bit of a disappointment) But I listened to it many times because i am a serious rock critic who analyzes lyrics and like dynamics.
And the more I heard Siamese Dream the more i thought it was kind of good. All those nutty Jimmy Hendrix like riffs make me feel like a rock chick. Yet the words and the song titles are kind of mystifying. In Cherub Rock Billy Corgan repeatedly wails Let me out over screaming guitar feedback, I was like from whence does this song derive it's name?
So I asked a publicist who told me that it is an angry response to the exclusiveness of the alterna-rock world. That's very lovely Billy and I would agree with you but a few clues as to your meaning would have been helpful. Today is a very retro sounding piece of music. I'm told it it's about a wish to commit suicide. It's strange. i could keep listening to this album forever I'm just not sure why.
